Starring singer and actress "La Jedet," one of the most powerful Spanish series has arrived on HBO Max Latin America. It's the intense story of actress and vedette Cristina Ortiz, a trans icon of the 1990s in Spain. With eight episodes full of emotion, Veneno has premiered in style in Latin America, in a late homage to Pride month, and finally bringing the series and the 90's diva to international fame.

After the resounding success of the series in Spain, the Cristina Ortiz biopic now awaits its reception on the other side of the pond. After its premiere in the United States, the series arrived on HBO Max in Latin America. 

With a little less "glamor" than other series, Veneno shows the reality of many trans women in Spain in the 1990s. Surrounded by struggle, the danger of the night, fame, and chosen family, Cristina's life reflects the harshness of the world facing the LGBTQ+ collective. 

"It was intended as a mini-series, because the story ends tragically, but we've set to work on a second season. There are so many stories around Cristina's to tell, there is so much to explore, that we have run out of time in this miniseries and we have started working on it," said its creators. 

The screenwriters of the series are Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, and it was released in Spain in March 2020. Veneno traces the life of Cristina Ortiz, from her birth to the day of her death. While Jedet Sánchez stars as Cristina during her transition stage, Daniela Santiago plays her in her beginnings in the artistic world, and Isabel Torres in her last years in television and return after being imprisoned for swindling.
