Karla Souza stars in ‘La Caída’ movie
Mexican actress Karla Souza stars in and produces the feature film 'La Caída', which premieres on November 11 on Prime Video.
La Caída is a nuanced story about the complexities of relationships in which Mariel (character played by Karla Souza) is a veteran elite diver who has one last chance at the Olympic Games. However, when a terrible truth comes to light, Mariel faces her biggest personal question: Is winning her true dream?
The feature film, inspired by real events, seeks for the public to witness the athlete's path towards strength and redemption.
“La Caída is the most challenging and personal project of my career. I have found true growth and my own power and agency in the telling of this story. Amazon has been an amazing partner and proved to be the best home for this intimate and brave story. Our hope is to elevate the complex conversations surrounding the systemic abuse of power in our culture,” said Karla Souza (El Presidente, Day Shift), who stars in and produces the feature film 'La Caída'

The thriller is directed by Argentine director Lucía Puenzo, whose debut XXY won the Critics' Week Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. "Some time ago, Karla Souza contacted me to propose writing this story inspired by true events. One of the most intense journeys of my life has been writing and shooting this film. Many doors shut, but many more opened. Karla trained for three years to be able to jump from a 10-meter platform... I am still moved by the dedication she and everyone involved have had from the first to the last day that this story brought us together,” said Puenzo.
In addition to Souza, the producers of the film are Ana Laura Rascón (Until I Met You, Los Héroes del Norte), Ramiro Ruiz (Enfermo Amor, Diablo Guardian) and Axel Kuschevatzky (Argentina, 1985, Staged) have been producers of the film . The script was written by Puenzo, María Renée Prudencio (Miss 89, Coyote), Tatiana Mereñuk (Yo Soy Sola), Mónica Herrera and Samara Ibrahin (Desfrenadas, Diablo Guardian). “It was not an easy script to write nor an easy film to shoot... we always knew it was flammable material, and today I also know that this film will forever be a fiercely personal project for the group of people who joined the emotional roller coaster that is La Caída,” added Puenzo.
A production of Prime Video, MADAM, Filmadora and Infinity Hill, ‘La Caída’ will arrive on November 11 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
