Selena Gomez nominated for Best Producer at the 2022 Emmys
She is the second Latina nominated in the category in 74 years.
In this year's version of the Emmys, Selena Gomez was nominated not as an actress, but as executive producer of her series Only Murders in the Building, which airs on Hulu and Star+.
Gomez, who is one of the show's leads, is also part of the executive production alongside Steve Martin, John Hoffman, Martin Short, Jamie Babbit, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.
Gomez, of Mexican descent, is not be the first Latina to be nominated in the Best Producer category. The merit also went to Salma Hayek for Fox's Ugly Betty in 2007. However, during all the previous versions of the Emmys, only one Latina woman has won as a producer in any of the series categories. That was Celia D. Costas, who won for her work on Angels in America in 2004, as reported by Variety magazine.

About the series
Only Murders in the Building is one of the productions nominated in the Best Comedy Series category, competing with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Abbott Elementary, Barry, Ted Lasso, What We Do in the Shadows, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Hacks.
In the series, Gomez plays Mabel Mora, one of the residents of an Upper West Side high-rise. After her neighbor Tim Kono is murdered, she teams up with Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin), a semi-retired actor, and Charles Putnam (Martin Short), a cash-strapped Broadway director, and they create a podcast to help solve the crime.
