Shooting for J.Lo's next flick, The Mother, was interrupted at the beginning of 2022 by an outbreak of COVID-19 in the movie crew. It forced López to return to the U.S. until it could resume.

The situation is now under control, and filming for the thriller resumed this week in Las Palmas, the Canary Islands and will last until March 16, according to local newspapers.

One of the locations chosen for the film is the well-known Literary Cabinet: an institution considered a historic symbol and one of the main heritage assets of the Canary Islands, due to its construction, cultural archives, and active cultural agenda that captivates locals and tourists alike.

The renowned Cabinet had captivated other productions before such as Aliados (with Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard) and Palmeras en la Nieve (with Spanish actors Macarena García and Mario Casas).

What's known about The Mother?

The thriller tells the story of a murderous woman, played by López, who comes out of hiding place to save her daughter's life.

The Mother is also produced by López and directed by New Zealand's Niki Caro. Besides López, Gael García Bernal, Lucy Paez, Joseph Fiennes, Omari Hardwick, and Paul Raci are on the cast.

The film is one of the biggest Netflix productions of the year.

The unstoppable J.Lo

The premiere of The Mother on Netflix is yet to be determined, but J.Lo's fans believe the actress will be a hit once again, as she was with Marry Me, another new movie she starred in and produced, which topped the U.S. box office in February.

In addition to these feature films, López also stars in the dramedy Shotgun Wedding, with Josh Duhamel. It will premiere on June 29.
