A new film is on the horizon written by The Weeknd and director Trey Edward Shults, who is behind several independent productions like A Moment in Time, It Comes at Night and Krisha. It will also star Jenna Ortega, the latest rising Latina in Hollywood, thanks to her breakout role in Netflix's Wednesday

Ortega's participation in the film was confirmed by Deadline, who stated that after reading the script, she couldn't not refuse to be part of the project. 

It was also revealed that The Weeknd had been developing the project for some time and Ortega will serve as executive producer along with being lead actress. 

 Actor Barry Keoghan said, according to Deadline, that he wants the film to become one of his most important works.

Chayse Irvin was also confirmed as the Director of Photography, and he previously worked on the movie Blonde starring Ana de Armas. Composer Daniel Lopatin will conjure the soundtrack along with The Weeknd.

Th new film will be The Weeknd's debut as an actor in a leading role. To date, he has only made a short cameo as himself in Diamonds in the Rough and will soon be part of the new series The Idol on HBO.
