Coronavirus: 5 Netflix Latin Series to watch while quarantined
From 'Gentefied' to the Brazilian 'Spectro,' a marathon series is the best distraction if we're going to stay home.
Since COVID-19 has become a global epidemic, numerous prevention campaigns warn people who have any symptoms of the disease - cough, fever, respiratory distress - not to leave their homes to avoid contagion. They also urge caution among populations most at risk, especially the elderly or those with weak immune systems, to do their best to stay home and take hygienic measures.
Without wishing to join in the spiral of panic that seems to have taken the world by storm - and although prevention is absolutely necessary - we say "good luck in bad weather" and offer the caviar of the Latin series to pass the quarantine as best as possible.
It's the show everyone's talking about. And it's no wonder! Produced by America Ferrera, this comedy has its moments of drama and anguish - like life - and follows three Chicano cousins who own a taco restaurant and watch their neighborhood change because of gentrification.
One of it's highlights is the exploration of cultural identity of people with a migrant background. You can also see yourself portrayed in their jokes, in the situations they create, and in their efforts to pursue the American dream.
Don't let the subtitles distract you, Paquita Salas is a hilarious parody of the entertainment industry that stars "Paquita", one of the best headhunters in Spain in the 1990s. She's now desperate because she has lost her best client.
