Lovers of classic reggaeton are celebrating: the Cuba-Puerto Rico connection has returned to remind us that "the one you like is me." This is how the new music video begins featuring Don Omar, Wisin and Gente de Zona, an alliance that represents several legends of the genre. Their joint song “Soy yo” is a true tribute to Caribbean sounds and new urban influences. For many, it is the perfect reggaeton cocktail.

The video of the song, full of flow, energy and multiple voices, is vindication of a buried love. The lyrics and clip talk about a woman who is about to marry her future husband, but is reminded that her true love is Omar.

“What you need, mommy is me. I love your little face, and your seductive body. What you need, mommy is me,” they remind her in an explicit chorus.

“Soy yo” is also Don Omar's return to collaborations after a long time on his own. For this purpose, he chose the best partners. Cubans Gente de Zona are the kings of collaborations: “La gozadera,” their hit with Marc Anthony, is still popular despite years passing. Wisin, who recently announced his tour and farewell album for his duo with Yandel, also contributed with his experience and creativity.

The formula of the song is effective and avoids risking or innovating excessively. Catchy melody, repetitive and easy chorus, and a combination of voices that adds different nuances in each phase of the song. All this is accompanied by a music video of considerable audiovisual quality, which was filmed by Gus in Miami.

The song is the fourth single Omar has released on the Saban Music Group label, a new initiative launched by businessman Haim Saban.

“I am enjoying this stage, in which I am collaborating with colleagues with whom I had not previously worked. I feel like it was a meeting of a group of friends who worked and had a lot of fun doing what we are passionate about, which is music. This song demonstrates the incomparable rhythm that Caribbean people have,” he said.

His partner and friend Wisin said: “I'm sure this song will be another success for our career. We both started around the same time and we've always been there for each other, that's why I didn't hesitate when William called me to be part of this team, he's my brother and he knows it.”

Gente de Zona also fulfilled their desire to work together with Don Omar: “a great friendship has emerged from this meeting and we know that it will be the first [single] of many,” they said.

Fans also celebrated this historic collaboration. On social media, they posted comments such as "another world hit in the hands of the king of reggaeton, Don Omar," and "the old school will be and continues to be the best," among other praise.
