On Sunday, March 27, the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles hosted the long-awaited Oscars. In an event that attracts the attention of viewers from all over the planet, the artists Luis Fonsi and Sebastián Yatra brought their Latin rhythm along with other big names, such as Beyoncé and Billie Eilish.

Fonsi, creator of "Despacito" and winner of five Latin Grammys, performed the song "We don't talk about Bruno," from soundtrack of the movie Encanto. He will act alongside Becky G and several actors from the same film, with a song that went viral.

In what was his first performance at an Oscar gala, the Puerto Rican was enthusiastic about the opportunity.

“I was very surprised to receive this invitation from the Academy. It is a great honor and I feel very proud and grateful to be able to continue carrying our culture on high levels,” Fonsi said.

The singer, who is promoting his latest album Ley de gravedad, will continue his international concert tour after the gala.

“We will show our Latino culture on such an important stage,” he added before the show.

In addition, Colombia's Sebastián Yatra, performed "Dos oruguitas" — nominated for Best Song — and was "very excited" to learn that he will perform for the first time in what will be the 94th edition of the Oscars.

The American actor and musician of Puerto Rican origin Lin-Manuel Miranda composed Yatra’s song, also included in the film Encanto. He was a contender to win the award for Best Song for the second time, after his first attempt with "How Far I'll Go," from the movie Moana.

Encanto has become an audiovisual and musical phenomenon.

"It was something we all dreamed of, but nobody expected it to come to this point," Yatra said. The creator of songs such as “Traicionera” and “No hay nada más” was enthusiastic: “I'll be there, representing my Colombia, which is having a huge exposure with this movie.”

Yatra is a rising star of music in Spanish. On April 21, he will have five nominations at the Latin Music Awards gala. Born in Medellín, Sebastián Obando (original name) highlighted the honor of "being one of the first Colombians to represent my country at the Oscars and one of the few Latinos who has been nominated."

In addition, he commented that his nomination means a mix of “acting, music and culture. It is spectacular."

Nowadays, the Colombian is nowadays presenting his album Dharma, on a solo tour that is taking him to multiple cities in the U.S. and Canada.

"I'm excited, more than nervous," he said.
