Ana Bárbara to receive the BMI Icon Award
The Mexican singer will be honored for her contribution to Latin music.
Ana Bárbara will be the first Mexican regional music singer to ever be honored with a BMI Icon Award, according to Broadcast Music, Inc.
The artist, known as the "The Grupero Queen," will receive a heartfelt tribute during the 30th Annual BMI Latin Awards on March 21 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California.
"We are pleased to honor revered singer and songwriter Ana Barbara with the BMI Icon Award at the 30th Annual #BMILatinAwards on Tuesday, March 21st. The globally celebrated Grupero queen is the first regional Mexican songwriter to receive this award," BMI wrote on Twitter.

For her part, the Mexican singer said she was "very excited and privileged to live this great moment."
"THANK YOU for taking into account the dedication, love and passion with which I write, sing and above all, live! Very honored THANK YOU always," the artist wrote on Twitter.
Other songwriters to receive the BMI Icon Award include Carlos Santana, Gloria Estefan, Juan Luis Guerra, Los Tigres Del Norte and Los Lobos.
This year, BMI will also recognize other musical categories such as Regional Mexican Composer and Song, Contemporary Latin Music Composer and Song, Contemporary Latin Publisher, and Regional Mexican of the Year, among others.
