Univision launches 'Sesame Street' in Spanish

Spanish-language channel Univision has created a Spanish version of “Sesame Street” called "Sesame Amigos."

Spanish-language channel Univision has created a Spanish version of “Sesame Street” called "Sesame Amigos."  

The 30-minute program will feature the Sesame Street favorites such as Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, as well as celebrity guests like Diego Luna, Vadhir Derbez, Leslie Grace and more.

"'Sesame Amigos' is a new and innovative show created specifically for Latino families living in the United States," Alberto Ciurana, president of program and content at Univision Communications, Inc. said in statement. "'Sesame Amigos' will offer school age children who speak Spanish the necessary tools to have success in the U.S."

"Sesame Amigos" will premiere on Univision's "Planeta U" on August 1st at 8:30 a.m. EST.
