The next edition of the awards will be held only in the city of Miami and will be "global", announced its directors at a side event held during the Smart City Expo USA fair, according to the Impacto Latino portal.

The Green Latin America Award promotes sustainable development in the countries where they have an impact. These began in Ecuador and then spread to Latin America, and will celebrate its tenth edition between April 19 and 23 of next year, on the campus of the University of Miami.

"We are the most relevant social and environmental movement. Each year we identify, connect and amplify the most important social and environmental projects around the globe. We work year-round to promote and implement a society that is more just and in balance with nature," reads the official awards website.

During next year's event, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will choose 1 of the 11 finalists whose proposal is closest to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly, and will offer its authors a mentorship in New York.

In addition, for the first time in the history of the awards, a monetary prize of $20,000 will be awarded to 1 of the 11 winners among its different categories that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"Each of the categories in competition will have three finalists and one winner, who will be offered a platform for advice and dissemination of their initiatives," explained Bianca Dager Jervis, former Deputy Minister of Environment of Ecuador and Executive Director of these awards.
