Heavy hitters coming to the Linc for Copa America
Philly will get to see some world-class soccer.
One of the biggest winners from last night’s Copa America 2016 group draw: Fútbol fans in Philadelphia.
As disappointing as it was to learn that Philly would not host any elimination-round Copa games, the draw more than made up for it with giving us the possibility of seeing players like Alexis Sánchez and Luis Suárez take the field this June.
With the groups finalized for the tourney, the scramble is on for tickets. Games to be played at Lincoln Financial Field: Uruguay vs. Venezuela (June 9), U.S. vs. Paraguay (June 11) and Chile vs. Panama (June 14).
While the bookend matches will be on weekdays, the U.S. national team will play on a Saturday. Expect that match to be the hard to score tickets for out of the three. However all three games have the potential to bring some of the greatest players in modern soccer.
Sánchez and Suárez we already mentioned, but there’s also Jozy Altidore, Edinson Cavani, Tim Howard and Arturo Vidal. And if you aren’t familiar with those names, rest assured the sides that are coming to town will put on a good show.
Venue passes are on sale now through the Copa America 2016 website.
