The municipality of Marbella in the province of Málaga, in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, is located in the heart of the Costa del Sol.

Marbella is one of the favorite cities for tourists throughout the year. Its coastal strip that extends for about 26 kilometers, its mild climate — in Spring and Summer — its 25 beaches and 320 days of sunshine a year, make it a necessary destination for visitors seeking sea, fun and tourism.

With its charms, eclectic food scene, sports centers, outdoor activities, cultural agenda, the attractiveness of the famous Puerto Banús, and its hospitality towards foreigners, at least 500,000 travelers from 182 countries chose Marbella as one of the European Best Destinations in 2022. The number of votes put the city in second place in rankings compiled by the website, "European Best Destinations."

Among some of the attractions Marbella offers are as follows:

The Castle and the Walls

Marbella preserves the vestiges of its Muslim legacy in its streets. Proof of this is the Castle, and the walls that are found in its Old Town. Its streets, as described by the Tourist Office itself, still "preserve a labyrinth with streets that barely reach a meter and a half in width."

Food

Marbella is proudly home to three Michelin Star restaurants. In addition to the must-visits for gourmet, the food scene includes another 600 restaurants that combine avant-garde and tradition. That's without counting its innumerable bars (also called chiringuitos) on the promenades next to the beach.

Plaza de los Naranjos

The Plaza de los Naranjos owes its current name to the trees planted in 1941, replacing the existing palm trees. Around the square, there are several gastronomic establishments and the headquarters of the Town Hall.

Puerto Banus

It is probably one of the most famous corners, and at the same time, the most exclusive in all of Marbella. Puerto Banus is a Center of National Tourist Interest and is part of Marbella's Golden Mile. In the port, visitors can find luxury shops, spas, places to eat and have breakfast. There is also the possibility of renting a boat. Everything is available to those who are willing to pay for it.

The ranking of Best European Destinations in 2022 is led by Ljubljana, Slovenia and followed by Amiens, France, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Leuven, Belgium, Oradea, Romania, London, England, Nijmegen, Netherlands, Region from Lahti, Finland, Istanbul, Turkey, Amalfi Coast, Italy, Prague, Czech Republic, Rome, Italy, Bavaria, Germany, Athens Greece, Clonakilty, Ireland, Vienna, Austria, Lucerne, Switzerland, Graz, Austria, and Crete, Greece.
