Spotify opens new hub in Colombia
Medellín will host a special program of the platform until Nov. 3.
"Casa Spotify Medallo" opens its doors on Tuesday, Oct. 11 as a residence and recording studio ready for emerging audio creators, where they can find a daily schedule that includes workshops, master classes, panels and showrooms with producers and renowned artists.
The space opened by the platform seeks to "celebrate the musical tradition of the city," according to an official statement.
Spotify presents Casa Spotify Medallo as a place to share spaces for education, collaboration and inspiration, dedicated to urban artists, producers, composers and podcast creators.
"We celebrate Colombia for its cultural and musical richness that is recognized worldwide thanks to its artists, producers and composers," said Mia Nygren, general manager for Latin America.
Nygren also said that its arrival in Medellín seeks to "boost local talent to reach new audiences through the platform" and "listen to emerging artists and audio creators with the goal of generating opportunities for collaboration."

Casa Spotify Medallo will be located in a historic location in the heart of the city, and its doors will be open to the new urban wave and local creators to continue elevating the talent of the city that has given so much to the global music industry.
"We seek to recognize the original sounds and stories of the city's new creators who have proven that their sounds break barriers, demonstrating our commitment to connect, educate and inspire new generations of creators, producers, composers and podcasters," the platform announced on its website.
All activities are open to the public and the different meetings will cover topics such as copyright, social media, music production and building a tour, among others.
Among the guests invited to the talks and workshops are Ovy on the drums, Farina, Amalia Gomez and Sky.
