Philly has yet another food delivery service and this time it’s Amazon.
Amazon recently has expanded their food-delivery service, AmazonFresh, to Philadelphia. With AmazonFresh, supermarket items and products from specialty shops and restaurants in Philly can now be delivered to your door...in Center City only.
Using the new delivery service, customers who place an order by 10 a.m. can get their items just in time for dinner, according to Philly.com. If the order is placed by 10 p.m., the items will be delivered the next morning.
For orders over $35, delivery is free. Amazon Prime members can use the service for free until the end of the year. After that, Prime users will have to upgrade to Amazon Prime Fresh for that service. It costs $299 a year.
AmazonFresh vice president Tom Weiland told Philly.com that the range of delivery will expand beyond Center City, but no specifics were given.
AmazonFresh is competing with other delivery services in the city like Instacart (which delivers food and alcohol to your doorstep), Reading Terminal Market’s delivery service, and Caviar (which delivers fine dining options).
