Nutritionists say the avocado effects can be felt almost immediately, making your skin brighter and smoother.  And in this new era of eating fashionistas, avocado is the new  fruit in town.

According to The Washington Post, “sales of Hass avocados, which make up more than 95% of all avocados consumed in the United States, soared to a record of nearly 1.9 billion pounds (or some 4.25 billion avocados) last year, more than double the amount consumed in 2005, and nearly four times as many sold in 2000.”

In the US avocados, found in Guacamole and inside trendy green smoothies and juices, mostly come from the Mexican state of Michoacán, which accounts for four-fifths of the national avocado production, as reported in El País.

In Brooklyn, New York, places like Avocadería, a restaurant founded by three Italians in their 20s – have tapped into this new consumption trend. All the dishes at Avocaderia come with generous portions of avocado imported from Michoacán.

Co-founder Francesco Brachetti said he got the idea for this project soon after moving to Mexico City in 2014 to work for the fashion industry. As reported in El País.

In Philadelphia, avocado is also trendy. Foursquare made the top list of restaurants in Philly to eat the healthy green fruit.
