The appointment process presses forward Thursday. 

Mayor-elect Jim Kenney announced that Rochelle "Chellie" Cameron will become the new CEO of Philadelphia International Airport. She will replace Mark Gale, a 28-year veteran at the airport who served as CEO for the last seven years under Mayor Michael Nutter's administration. The appointment comes just days after Gale announced his retirement in early 2016.

“There are few in the aviation industry with more experience and expertise than Chellie Cameron," Kenney said in a statement.

Cameron knows the ins and outs of daily operations. She previously served in the U.S. Air Force, and oversaw operations at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority for 13 years before coming to Philadelphia.

"Her service in the Air Force and her work overseeing three airports in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia has all been exemplary," the mayor-elect added. "I know that as CEO she will not just provide excellent customer service, but also create a fair, supportive work environment for our employees."

Kenney will also welcome Fairmount Park Conservancy director Kathryn Ott Lovell to his mayoral cabinet as the new Parks and Recreation commissioner.

"We have no doubt that, under her leadership, Parks and Rec will continue to provide safe, quality extracurricular activities for our kids and preserves some of the City's most important natural resources."

Cameron and Lovell mark the Kenney administration's 24th and 25th appointments to day. There are still about 50 more appointments to be made.
