Hillary Clinton makes it official
Former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, announced Sunday her much anticipated bid for the presidential elections of 2016.
“I'm getting ready to do something, too. I'm running for president. Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top,” Clinton said in a video posted in her official website. “Everyday Americans need a champion and I want to be that champion. So you can do more than just get by, you can get ahead and stay ahead, because when families are strong, America is strong. So I'm hitting the road to earn your vote, because it's your time and I hope you'll join me on this journey.”
This will be Clinton’s second bid for the White House. In 2008, she was defeated by President Obama in the democratic elections. In regards to her announcement, Obama referred to Clinton as his “friend” and said “she would an excellent president.”
While Clinton’s strength among her party make her the likely candidate, republican hopefuls like Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, who have made it official so far, will have to face each other for their party’s candidate.
