Selena Quintanilla to release new album
Selena Quintanilla’s estate announced the forthcoming reveal of a full-length album containing the late singer’s digitally-altered vocals.
The Quintanilla family, in partnership with Warner Music Latina, will release a posthumous 13-track album, Moonchild Mixes, which will be available for streaming on Aug. 26, according to the family.
“Como Yo Te Quiero A Ti” was the first single off the full collection to be released to the public, and contains the Tejano singers’ vocals, digitally altered in the studio to make her voice sound aged as though it was an older, more mature Quintanilla.
“Everything was recorded on vinyl. So we had to kind of fuse the old school ways with the new school ways. Clean Selena’s vocals, put them on timing. And then we also pitched her vocal down just a hair to make her sound a little bit more mature,” said A.B Quintanilla in an interview with Nightline.
A.B. Quintanilla is Selena’s brother and is also a producer.

“Como Yo Te Quiero A Ti” was first released in 1987 as part of the album Preciosa, and has been re-recorded once before.
Moonchild Mixes was recorded when the late singer was between 13 and 16 years old, making for a unique revival process, where A.B. Quintanilla utilized modern technology to portray an accurate version of her vocals.
