School tells bullied kids not to 'tattle'

If you're being bullied, it's your own fault.
That's the lesson children may take from advice that a Lincoln, Nebraska, school sent home with fifth-graders. A Zeman Elementary School flier told students to stop being 'sore losers' and 'tattletales', and just agree with bullies who harass and put you down.
Some 'useful' advice?
If a bully's putting you down, just go put down someone else to make yourself feel better, the school advised. The flier said, "make a joke out of it or agree with the put-down," with examples like, "if you think I'm ugly, you should see my sister," and, "if you think I look like a nerd, you should see my dad."
The flier also told children, "do not tell on bullies," because the bully will probably make things worse for you and, "would we keep our friends if we tattled on them?" And if they physically hurt you, don't get mad about it, Zeman Elementary School advised, and don't be afraid—just let them beat you until they take pity on you and stop. "Do not verbally defend yourself," either because, "the defender is automatically the loser."
After angry feedback from parents, the school principal sent families a letter that said the flier was "sent home with good intentions"—and bad advice.
