Driven by Latinos and African-Americans, the city is about to see the strongest comeback in decades.

Good news from the South!
I mean, South Philadelphia, where things are happening under the radar screen, inspired by visionaries, and fueled by the new blood that is giving the life back to our beloved city.
Under the leadership of Tim Whitaker, founder and president of “Mighty Writers,” and Sylvester Mobley, founder and leader of “Coded by Kids,” Philadelphia is feeling an exceptional and unique heartbeat that is bound to revive the body of our city, which for five straight decades lost not only population but mainly inspiration to face the future with optimism.

The one that is teaching African-American and Latino kids the science of today; That is, coding and computers to build the new world. Penned by Dominique Johnson, a young African-American writer born and raised in North Philadelphia.
In a upcoming edition, Al DÍA will publish a part two on the “Futuro Writers” project, which on Ninth Street, in the middle of the “Italian Market,” dozens of kids are being trained to become the next narrators of the reality of our city.
I hope these young kids, when they become candidates for college, that they don’t choose the law profession, since we have so many accomplished lawyers in the city.
My sincere hope is that these new coders and writers become the comprehensive storytellers that Philadelphia is so vastly lacking today.
