Dear Mr. President,

I am sure you receive too many requests like this, and I have been advised that I shouldn’t even bother.

However, with so much at stake, I had to at least try. Perhaps, too,  it was a personal need to attempt the impossible that led Walt Disney to build an entertainment  empire, and you to run for president of the United States only 8 years ago.

I don’t have an accomplishment of that size to show, but AL DIA’s reach is nonetheless substantial, as you can see from documents attached for your review and evaluation. 

To introduce myself, I am a Latino media pioneer, an entrepreneur since before it was the thing to do and a former president of the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP). I am the founder, CEO and editor-in-chief of AL DIA News Media based in Philadelphia, and, like you, the father of two wonderful daughters, Gabriela A. Guaracao and Anna F. Guaracao.

Our last name, like yours, can seem foreign to many people. Guaracao is actually a Native American last name, with origins in the Caribbean tribes. I was born in Colombia and am now a proud U.S. citizen.

But above all, I am a journalist, eager to interview you on issues of importance to Hispanics, which I believe will be part of your legacy as President. I would hope to explore issues that evidently no one has ever asked  you about, despite the many Hispanic journalists who have interviewed you.

The interview would be published in English and Spanish on our dual-language AL DIANews.com website.  Additionally, we would publish the interview in Spanish in our 23-year-old the print product, and potentially 24 other Spanish-language publications across the country, part of a  national Latino Media Consortium, which includes AL DIA Dallas, owned by the Dallas Morning News, which has also agreed to publish the interview. “Morning News” publisher, Mr. Jim Moroney III, assured us of publication in the English-language paper.
