Subscription video provider, Netflix, announced plans for its first original Spanish-language series, a comedy directed by Gaz Alazraki, actor and director of Nosotros los Nobles, a movie released last year that became one of the biggest box-office hits in Mexico. Luis Gerardo Méndez, also known for his role in Nosotros los Nobles, will star in the Netflix series. 

The new series, which will launch next year, centers around a family battle over who will inherit a soccer club, a satirical look at fútbol. The series will be produced in Mexico, starring actors from Latin America.

Popular Netflix original series include House of Cards, the fourth season of Arrested Development and Orange is the New Black.
