A judge in the United States on Wednesday indefinitely extended a temporary halt of President Donald Trump's second immigration ban, through which he sought to prevent the entry of refugees and citizens from six Muslim majority countries.
The decision by the federal judge in Honolulu, Hawaii, Derrick K. Watson, can be appealed by the government at the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Watson temporarily blocked the ban on Mar. 15, a day before it came into force, on the petition of Attorney General Douglas Chin, a Democrat.

After the first ruling, Chin called for Watson to turn the temporary freeze of the order into an indefinite one, which materialized on Wednesday.
Chin said he was confident that Watson's decision would prevail over possible recourses taken by the Trump government.
The immigration ban, overturned by Watson, suspended the country's refugee acceptance program for 120 days and banned citizens from Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen and Libya from entering the country for 90 days.
