The Latino immigrant community of Reading, Berks County, is paralyzed, because, since a month ago, ICE agents are carrying out indiscriminate raids on the highways of the city.

According to community allegations, since March 1, ICE agents have carried out several operations stopping vehicles and detaining an indeterminate number of Latino workers.

Bridget Cambria, a lawyer specializing in migration issues, told ABC 10 that these actions are irregular since their modus operandi reflect that the operations are not directed at individuals: "they follow the vans that, during their travel to work, pick up workers along the way and once the last worker gets in, they intercept the vehicle and interrogate everyone".

For the lawyer, this situation has made the environment in a city whose 58 percent of the population is Latino. Reading, with 81,000 inhabitants, is 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia, one of the nation's largest shrine cities.

Asked about the reason for these arrests, a spokesman for the security corps quoted by the network said that "all actions taken by members of the body are part of the daily efforts that ICE maintains in the county and throughout Pennsylvania to ensure the safety of the citizenship".

These actions are the latest in a wave of terror on immigrant communities since President Trump signed the executive order to tighten immigration enforcement in the country.
