Pro-immigrant protestors blocked entrances to City Hall on Friday after the Nutter administration officially announced that it will move ahead with changes to the city's "sanctuary policy." Things quickly became physical.

Police officers attempted to remove the nine protestors creating a human barricade at the two entrances. Among those protesters are undocumented immigrants. After a brief struggle, police and security officials were able to retake one of the entrances from protestors. One entrance remains blocked as of 1 p.m.

New Sanctuary Movement, the interfaith immigrant advocacy group leading the blockade, says they will remain at City Hall's entrance and risk arrest until 5 p.m. this evening.

Update: As of 3 p.m., police presence began to lighten around the scene of the sit-in. The barricade group was permitted to remain outside the entrance for the remainder of the day. No arrests were made.
