For a few decades now, computers have become a daily part of our lives. We use them at work and also have them at homes… This also means that these machines have become another one of those objects that once they become outdated sit in a box at the far end of a basement collecting dust.

However, the fact that they are currently no longer used by some does not make them useless for many others. That is why Nonprofit Technology Resources organizes a drive during the month of April to collect computers as part of Philly Tech Week, the most important technological event of this city and that is held once a year in Spring. All computers, whether for personal use or use at the office, will serve to support the programs of this organization, which aim is to improve access of Philly’s low-income communities to technology. 

Through its own store, this entity offers computers at a low cost or at zero cost, helping the most vulnerable neighborhoods in the city to be able to access financial, academic and social opportunities offered by technology. And so, next April 18, at its place of business at 1524 Brandywine, this company will be accepting computer donations. Even those that currently do not seem to have a second lease on life will be disassembled so that their parts may be reused on other units.

Also, throughout Philly Tech Week, we will be able to learn more about the work performed by the organization’s volunteers and even how to become one. Additionally, one of the organization’s most important programs, Free Learning through Technology, will be introduced during an event in which they will be accompanied by councilwoman María Quiñones.
