August 2nd, 2023With the success of the Philadelphia International Unity Cup, there was no telling how many groups would come back from last years Inaugural season. Surprisingly, this year there are 48 teams that applied to be a part of the tournament. Along with the new teams, there are going to be several venues throughout the city where the games will take place as well as a new home for the tournament title game.
Mayor Jim Kenney's vision of using the game of soccer as a vehicle to being people together has benefited not only the players participating, but also citizens from different neighborhoods who would in any other situation not interact with other immigrant communities throughout the city.
For the second year, Goya foods is the official sponsor of the Philadelphia International Unity Cup. The Department of Commerce as well as the Philadelphia Eagles have joined in to support this program. The Championship Game will be held at Lincoln Financial Field on November 11th. More information concerning specific games, times, and locations will be available by this weekend at unitycup.phila.gov
