Earlier today councilwoman María Quiñones-Sánchez told AL DÍA News that her campaign team filed an injunction against LUPE (Latinos United for Political Empowerment), the PAC supporting her opponent Manny Morales in the the race for the District 7 City Council seat. The injunction averred that LUPE's poll working teams were distributing "illegal ballots" that didn't include the requisite "Paid for by" that materials produced for electioneering efforts must bear.

A judge from the Court of Common Pleas granted a court order and instructed officers from the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office confiscate the sample ballots.

According to Quiñones-Sánchez's spokesperson, Anthony Campisi, however, as soon as those sample ballots were collected and removed, other variants were produced, all different enough — but still lacking the disclosure required by the Pennyslvania Election Code — that it prompted a return visit to the Court of Common Pleas for an extension to the original court order. Cameron Kline, the spokesperson for the District Attorney's Office, confirmed that, indeed, one had been granted.

Campisi emailed the multiple variants of the sample ballots in question to us and AL DÍA's Samantha Madera confirmed that paperwork, including site where the illegal sample ballots were handed out, was on file at Election Court.
