One of the main challenges for any entrepreneur is accessing financing for its growth stage. When the venture is led by a woman, the obstacles grow, and if it is a Latina entrepreneur, even more so.

This is why the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Educational Fund has announced the launch of the Latina Growth Accelerator, a groundbreaking program designed to support Latina-owned businesses with revenues exceeding $10 million. This initiative marks the first of its kind in the U.S. and aims to drive the economic success of mid-sized Latina entrepreneurs.

Supported by The Kroger Co. Foundation and in partnership with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the program equips Latina entrepreneurs with key tools, including advanced education, corporate connections, and access to capital. As a leader in fostering women-owned businesses, WBENC’s collaboration ensures participants have access to the most impactful resources available in the industry.

Addressing Barriers to Scale

Latina entrepreneurs contribute over $1.3 trillion to the U.S. GDP, representing over 14% of women-owned businesses. Despite their significant economic role, many face systemic barriers to scaling, particularly in accessing capital. The Latina Growth Accelerator seeks to address these challenges through:

  • Capital Readiness Training: Strategic education on preparing for growth and scaling operations.
  • Expert Coaching: Small group mentoring sessions with experienced business leaders.
  • Networking Opportunities: Access to corporate executives, peers, and industry influencers.
  • Capital Connections: Introductions to mid-market capital providers and M&A experts.
  • Exclusive Resources: Tools and support from USHCC and WBENC networks.

Building a Community of Support

Evelyn Barahona, Senior Vice President of the USHCC Educational Fund, emphasized the program's mission. “We created this program to fill a critical gap specifically for Latina entrepreneurs. Together with WBENC, we’re building a community of advisors and advocates to help mid-market Latina businesses achieve transformative growth and reach higher levels of success.”

The six-week pilot cohort, scheduled for Q1 2025, will feature 30 Latina business owners selected from the USHCC and WBENC networks. This intensive program aims to empower participants with the tools to thrive in competitive markets while honoring their cultural roots and fostering diversity within their organizations.

A Collaborative Effort for Lasting Impact

Pamela Prince-Eason, President and CEO of WBENC, highlighted the transformative potential of the initiative. “This partnership provides the USHCC and WBENC network of Latina entrepreneurs with the expertise and resources to empower Latina businesses. Participants will gain essential business knowledge to support their continued success.”

Ramiro A. Cavazos, President & CEO of USHCC, expressed gratitude for the collaboration. “At the USHCC, we’re proud that The Kroger Co. Foundation shares in our mission to empower Latina entrepreneurs, the backbone of our Hispanic business community. This collaboration will strengthen the entire Hispanic business community.”

By addressing critical barriers and fostering a supportive ecosystem, the Latina Growth Accelerator represents a pivotal moment for Latina entrepreneurs in the U.S. As participants embark on this program, the ripple effects are expected to bolster economic growth and inclusivity across industries, solidifying the impact of Latina-owned businesses on the national stage.
