The rise of artificial intelligence has brought about significant challenges related to digital transformation across the globe.

However, this transformation is not without risks. Cybercriminals continuously seek new ways to access sensitive business and company information. Recently, there have been numerous incidents of cyber-attacks and information leaks worldwide.

The advancement of technology has also introduced new risk factors, including the use of VPNs, social networks, and AI-based search engines. Therefore, it is essential to identify recommendations to strengthen cybersecurity measures and address these growing threats.

According to Iskander Sanchez-Rola, the director of innovation at GEN and Norton, cybersecurity increasingly relies on the level of expertise of employees within each organization.

This highlights the importance of addressing vulnerabilities in handheld devices like cell phones, the usage of unprotected programs, and, more broadly, the online behavior of employees to ensure digital security.

What motivates cybercriminals is their pursuit of valuable information for their purposes, such as business data, personal information about employees, and financial or banking data. They are also interested in accounting records, intellectual property files like patents, strategic documents, and login credentials.

To enhance cybersecurity, the expert offers five key recommendations:

  1. Multifactor Authentication: Implement this for all systems, as it adds an extra layer of security. An example would be using biometrics for the authentication process.
  2. Continuous Employee Training: Employees are often the weakest link in cybersecurity. A single oversight can expose the organization to malware or data theft. Regular training can help mitigate this risk.
  3. Regular Software Updates: Keeping software up to date is crucial. Software becomes outdated either due to new features being developed or general advancements in the digital environment.
  4. Backup Copies: Maintaining updated backups of all information and establishing redundancy in systems is vital to address any data loss or breaches.
  5. Create a Response Plan: While prevention is preferable, having a clear procedure in place to address a cyber attack when it occurs is necessary.

Cybersecurity is a highly sensitive issue for small business owners today. By considering these security tips, it is possible to reduce the impact of cybercrime, ultimately leading to better outcomes for businesses.
