On Nov. 1, 2021, the AL DÍA Foundation will officially launch its brand new site.

The AL DÍA Foundation was founded over a decade ago with the mission to develop a multicultural and bilingual ecosystem of journalists through innovation, entrepreneurship and most importantly, practical education.

“For me, the Foundation should be a specialized place for high end training in journalism and media leadership,” said Hernán Guaracao, Founder and Chairman of the AL DÍA Foundation.

The launch of the new site will be a critical tool in getting the mission out and in the open.

To Taylor Cobb, Director of Business Development for the AL DÍA Foundation, the launch of the new site is vital as “websites serve as a secondary home for many organizations,” she said.

“You'll get to see the everyday life of what is going to be going on here at the AL DÍA Foundation,” Cobb added.

Since the Foundation was started, the aim has always been to ensure the inclusion of people of color and multicultural communities in the media industry.

"We're beginning to prove that by doing that, we can affect the media landscape and public opinion because we have compotent people who are able to do the job," said Guaracao.

During the official launch event, the plans and priorities of the Foundation over the next three years will be revealed.

In addition, a number of prominent leaders from the city will be attending to speak, including Guaracao; Ernest Owens, award-winning journalist & CEO of Ernest Media Empire; Jim Friedlich, executive director & CEO of The Lenfest Institute for Journalism; and Kianni Figuereo, the inaugural Felix Varela Fellow.

The event will be just the first of a series of events the Foundation will host over the next several months and years that will each aim to highlight journalists and media professionals who will serve as major voices in helping shape the ecosystem that will comprise the next generation of aspiring journalists and media leaders.

"The reason why we use the word ecosystem,” said Cobb, "is because we're creating structures that interact with the already existing structures in place.”

The AL DÍA Foundation site launch will take place Monday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m.
