In what will remain one of the most remembered playoff series of recent times, both in the national and American leagues, two teams will finally be in charge of fighting for Super Bowl LVI, which will be played on February 13.

These are some relevant facts that you should know about this sports party that will leave a new champion after the elimination of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by Tom Brady, who by the way would be about to announce his retirement, according to the specialized press.

Los Rams de Los Ángeles se enfrentan a los Bengals de Cincinnati en el Super Bowl 2022

Key facts

The Cincinnati Bengals, for the American conference, who arrive for the third time at the most important game in the NFL, and who surely prayed not to have to face the San Francisco 49ers again, their executioners on the previous two occasions, will face the Los Angeles Rams, a franchise that began in Cleveland, Ohio, (1936 - 1945), and which has moved between the Californian city (1946 - 1995 and 2016 - 2022) and Saint Louis, Missouri, (1996 - 2015 ).

The "Angels" again, who will participate for the fifth time in the Super Bowl, with three defeats and a victory achieved in 2000, while they were in San Luis, will be able to play in the stadium where they usually perform, the SoFi Stadium, in Inglewood, California, but the league determined that the Bengals will be the team that will officiate at home. It is the second time in history that a team that reaches the final plays the game in its stadium, and it is the first time in history that these two teams meet in this instance.

The reason the Bengals kept the home tag, and one that could work in their favor, is that the AFC and NFC alternate which conference determines the home and away teams for each Super Bowl. The AFC is the home team for even-numbered Super Bowls, and the NFC is the home team for odd-numbered Super Bowls. That's why the Bengals, despite being nearly 2,200 miles from Cincinnati, will be the designated home team.

Both for the franchise and for Los Angeles, it is important to have managed to qualify for this important event, especially since 1993, 29 years ago, a Super Bowl had not been played in this city. On that occasion the Dallas Cowboys beat the Buffalo Bills.

Since 1989 those from Cincinnati have not come to this important game, a XXIII edition that they lost to those from San Francisco, who had also defeated them in the XVI edition in 1982. For their part, the Rams are back after three years, after that in 2019 (LIII edition) they were defeated by Brady's Patriots. The California team also played in the 2002 editions (XXXVI), being in San Luis and also losing to the Patriots, as well as the 1980 edition (XIV), when they lost to the Steelers.

As the road team, the Rams will qualify for the coin toss to start Super Bowl LVI. The last seven teams to win the coin toss lost the game, with Seattle, in 2013, being the last to win the toss and the match. The Rams will be the road team for the fourth time in their five trips to the Super Bowls, while the Bengals will be the home team for the second time in three appearances.

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow and his Rams counterpart Matthew Stafford will lead their teams in the deciding game. Both players are making their first Super Bowl appearances. Burrow, with a win against Los Angeles, could be the first quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy, the National Championship and the Super Bowl. Stafford, on the other hand, has a chance to cement his legacy with a championship title after he came over from the Detroit Lions.

Los Angeles could repeat the feat of the Buccaneers, still reigning champions, as the only teams to win the Super Bowl on their floor. The Rams moved to SoFi Stadium after playing their home games at the Los Angeles Coliseum the previous three years. The Rams look to win their first title in Los Angeles, where to date the 1983 Raiders are the only team to win a Super Bowl as an L.A.-based team.

Game time

The 2022 Super Bowl will be broadcast live on television on NBC, for the United States, and Telemundo in Spanish, starting at 3:30 p.m. PST. It can also be seen through the NFL, Peacock, Telemundo and Yahoo Sports applications.

Half time show

Hip hop and R&B stars Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar are scheduled to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. It marks the first time the five prolific performers have performed together and will be the third Super Bowl halftime show produced in part by Jay-Z's Roc Nation. The NFL has not yet announced who will sing the national anthem before the game.
