Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin will participate in the Apple TV+ series "Mrs. American Pie", in the main male role, as confirmed by himself on Twitter and his representation office in Puerto Rico.

The "Livin' la vida loca" singer copied without comment on Twitter a report from the digital media "Deadline" which indicates "exclusively" that Martin joined a cast that already includes Kristen Wiig and Allison Janney.

The series "Mrs. American Pie" is based on a novel by Juliet McDaniel and the singer plays the role of "Robert," Deadline said.

Martin is looking for more substantial roles as he develops his acting career, and this new Apple TV+ series is a perfect opportunity.

The 10-episode series is a period comedy based on the novel by Juliet McDaniel.

Wiig plays Maxine Simmons, a recently divorced former beauty queen trying to break into exclusive Palm Beach society in South Florida in the late 1960s, coinciding with man's landing on the moon.

The series is being developed by Dern and his producing partner Jayme Lemons through their company Jaywalker Pictures. Abe Sylvia, who is behind Jessica Chastain's upcoming series George & Tammy, will write, produce and direct the series.

Ricky Martin, who played Antonio D'Amico, Gianni Versace's partner, in the FX series dedicated to the murder of the famous Italian couturier in Miami Beach, is set to pursue a career in film as well.
