America Ferrera to direct adaptation of novel 'I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter'
Netflix will stream a film that exudes a feminine and Latino energy based on the book by writer Erika L. Sanchez.
Talented actress America Ferrera makes her feature directorial debut with the project to bring to the big screen the adaptation of Erika Sanchez's book I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter. With Linda Yvette Chávez adapting the screenplay and Ferrera directing, Anonymous Content and MACRO will produce the film, which will be released on Netflix and is loaded with Latina female energy.
Ferrera confesses that since reading the novel, she was captivated by "the depth, wit, and intelligence of her writing, as well as her young Latina heroine, had a profound impact on me and left me wanting so much more. I am truly honored and humbled to direct Linda Yvette Chavez's script, which was beautifully adapted. The opportunity to direct the work of these two incredibly talented Latina writers is a dream come true. I can't wait to share this film with the novel's many fans and to introduce this funny, profound, and resonant story to the world," said the young director excitedly.
