J.Lo's 'intimate' documentary set to premiere at Tribeca
The documentary about the life and career of the Latina actress and singer will premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Festival in June.
The movie about the life and musical career of over 30 years of Jennifer Lopez is called Halftime.
Among some of the events that will be mentioned in the documentary are her show at the 2020 Super Bowl and her performance at the inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden in 2021.
Halftime will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 8 in New York.
The premier of the film will take place in the United Palace Room in the Latin neighborhood of Washington Heights, near the Bronx, where the Latina singer, actress and businesswoman was born.
“The Tribeca Festival has always been an activist festival, a celebration of entertainment and innovation in the midst of remarkable challenges. We are thrilled to open with “Halftime,’ an inspirational documentary that spotlights Jennifer Lopez’s activism. Tribeca is proud to feature a wide selection of diverse programming that reflects our commitment to equity and inclusion, and we are eager to premiere this beautiful exploration of J. Lo’s Latina culture and heritage,” said Tribeca Festival Co-Founder and Tribeca Enterprises CEO Jane Rosenthal in a press release.
The documentary is directed by American filmmaker Amanda Micheli and is produced by Netflix. Halftime will be released on the streaming platform on June 14 — a week after its premiere in Tribeca.
Netflix calls the documentary "intimate" and hopes the production will get the 52-year-old Latino superstar closer to her public through her honest reflections on the most important moments of her career, including the pressure of fame.
