The Hola Mexico Film Festival has unveiled the celebration of its 13th edition, which will take place Sept. 17-25, during Hispanic Heritage Month.

The festival will take place at LA Live's Regal Cinemas in Los Angeles, and the opening and closing ceremonies will be held outdoors at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes.

After a year that saw the event go virtual, in 2021, the Hola Mexico Film Festival returns to its in-person format, taking into account the county's sanitary protocols.

Samuel Douek, director and founder of the festival expressed his pride and excitement to return to the regular format.

"Through the enduring power of the cinematic arts community, we are absolutely thrilled to welcome film lovers and finally be able to gather and embrace each other in person," he said.

This year, the festival will feature the screening of 21 films, and will be comprised of four sections: Mexico Now, which will present the best of Mexican cinema from recent years, without distinguishing genres; Documentary, which will include the best documentary films made by Mexican filmmakers;  The 'Other' Mexico, which will showcase the experiences of Mexicans not normally portrayed on screen; and Nocturno, which will feature "weird" and horror Mexican films.

With the goal of increasing the Latino workforce in the global film industry, the festival presented by DishLATINO, will reactivate the Tomorrow's Filmmakers Today (TFT) program.

The program connects Los Angeles-based Latino filmmakers with the resources, tools and mentorship from industry leaders to help them develop their projects. Towards the end of the festival, there will be an awards ceremony to recognize the "Best Director," the "Best Short Film" and "Best Film" selected by the audience.
