After its potential cancellation, Netflix has confirmed the premiere date of the fifth season of Money Heist.

The streaming giant also announced it as the final season of the series, which will arrive in two parts after the Summer, in September. The most famous heist in television history will come to an end in two parts of five episodes each. Volume 1 will premiere on Sept. 3, and Volume 2, on Dec. 3, 2021.

The first official images of the fifth season reveal the chaos that has been created both inside and outside the Bank of Spain after its100 hours of lockdown.

The Professor has been discovered by Sierra and has no plan to escape. As a result, he finds himself out of the game while Lisbon is inside the Bank. The war begins and viewers see the Gang trying to survive going through moments of anguish and desperation for not having a plan, as usual. A new "character" enters the game: the army, which warns viewers that the biggest heist in history is about to come to an end.

Alex Pina, the creator of the series promised an extreme and epic last season: "We have spent almost a year thinking about how to break the gang. How to put the professor on the ropes. How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of Money Heist. The war reaches its most extreme and wildest levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season," he said in an official statement.

Tokyo, Denver, Berlin, Nairobi, Rio, Helsinki, Lisbon and Monica return to the screen for one final season, now joined by Palermo and Marseille.

"We have a lot of possibilities for some spin-offs, yes, and I think it's because of the strong and powerful identities of the characters. We've always been looking for characters with a very complex layered design. So I think almost every character in Money Heist has a duality that we'd like to see in a spin-off. We could see any of them in other contexts," said Pina.
