The Musement, a website specialized in booking cultural and leisure activities, has analyzed 3,800 open-air venues throughout Europe. After this study, it established a ranking of the 30 best European public attractions.

The resulting list of most popular places is based on the number of reviews and each site's score on Google. At the top of that ranking is the Madrid's El Retiro Park, which has 153,445 Google reviews.

With 125 hectares and more than 15,000 trees, El Retiro Park is considered a green oasis in the center of Madrid. Several gardens are located on the property — the Vivaces garden, the Cecilio Rodríguez gardens, the gardens of the Architect Herrero Palacios, the Rosaleda and the French Parterre with the ahuehuete, the oldest tree in Madrid, which is around 400 years old.

Since July 25, 2021, El Retiro Park has been recognized, along with the Paseo del Prado, as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Among its most important architectural and historical elements are — the Estanque Grande, and the Municipal School of Canoeing, the Palacio de Velázquez and the Palacio de Cristal, both currently used as exhibition halls of the Reina Sofía Museum.

El Retiro also houses sculptures and fountains, such as the monument to Alfonso XII, the statue of El Ángel Caído, the only sculpture in the world that represents the devil, and the Bosque del Recuerdo, in homage to the victims of the terrorist attacks of March 11, 2004.

The park is one of the most-visited places by tourists and locals to walk, and play sports, such as running or skating.

Spain in second place

The Musement's ranking also put another Spanish attraction in second place — Park Güell, one of the main tourist attractions in Barcelona, with 145,819 reviews.

The top five is completed with London's Hyde Park, the Luxembourg Garden, and the Tuileries, both in Paris.

The list continues with Prater in Vienna, Austria, Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw, Villa Borghese in Rome, and Sempione Park in Milan, Italy.

The ranking of the top 30 European public places with the most reviews is available on its website.
