After a year of isolation forced by the pandemic, thousands of attendees once again packed the Vive Latino 2022 festival in Mexico City. For its return, the organization scheduled an attractive line-up, with bands like La Gusana Ciega, Los Auténticos Decadentes, Limb Bizkit, La Maldita Vecindad, Julieta Venegas, Patrick Miller, Santa Fe Klan and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs.

Vicentico, singer of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, asked for three minutes of silence before interpreting the hit "Mal bicho." With this, he wanted the public to pause, and keep in mind the cruelty of the war caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Los Fabulosos Cadillacs classic has been a cry for peace since its release in 1995. Its lyrics couldn't be more explicit: “I'm not going to wars, violence, injustice and your greed. I say no, no, no! Peace in the world."

Another of the highlight of the festival was the performance of Residente, who recently premiered the video for “This is not America.” For the popular Puerto Rican rapper, "unity is needed among humanity." During the performance of "El Aguante," he said that we live too much war, and asked to honor "those who still are here, and those who left."

The former leader of Calle 13 recalled that his last performance before the pandemic was in Mexico, and now he will resume his performances in the country. The public, who celebrated his presence, demanded he perform “Around the World,” a song by his old group. He also played his controversial “Tiradera,” recorded in a session with the Argentine rapper Bizarrap. His messages were of peace, unity, Latin pride and the promotion of art.

The Spanish C. Tangana also performed at the festival. He conquered the audience with his celebrated songs "Demasiadas mujeres" and "Ateo," and invited the Mexican regional music singer Adriel Favela to get on stage and sing the song "Cambia!" Fans went crazy with the performance of the artist from Madrid, and they sang to him: “Brother, you're already Mexican.”

Another outstanding artist was the Mexico's Bruses, who boosted her career thanks to TikTok, where she uploaded her own songs and some covers. She became known during the pandemic, signed a contract with a major record label, and was included at prestigious festival.

Thousands of young people vibrated with her electronic pop with punk and emo overtones, which triumphed despite her little experience. The band Ramona, who hails from Tijuana, also brought a local flavor to the festival.

Arriving from Barcelona, Love of Lesbian also delighted the public with songs like "John Boy Fan Club," "Cuando no me ves" and " Ahí donde solíamos gritar ".
