Dressed in white, with a huge smile and showing the charms and people of her homeland of Puerto Rico. This is how singer Kany Garcia appears in the music of her new hit “Agüita y Coco.” A song of pure Latin flavor, with soft guitars accompanying the sweet melody of her voice, Caribbean percussions and a catchy chorus that sticks in the head.

The story of the song talks about a person who, even without looking for a formal relationship, ended up finding it through the kiss of a special person.

"You sneaked into my dreams, without asking my permission, you changed my plans, you fell in love with me without warning, I didn't want anything serious, I didn't want commitment, but you kissed me and cast a spell on my heart," she sings in the chorus.

"I take you like water and coconut, and little by little we go crazy," García continues.

It is about a true story that happened to one of her good friends who found the love of her life a month after becoming single.

“Agüita y coco” is the first single of her eighth album, which is due out in May. The singer said her new album will be a breakthrough compared to her previous release, Mesa para dos (released in 2020).

“It has been two sad years, so complicated, and I was not able to write songs of nostalgia, sadness or melancholy. I wanted to break with that darker side and when I grabbed my guitar I only played happy melodies,” she explained to EFE.

García, born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, 1982, is one of the most popular voices on the current Latino music scene. She has released seven albums, won six Latin Grammy Awards, and was the most-nominated artist at the 2020 awards. She has also collaborated with top-level artists such as Joaquín Sabina, Leiva, Carlos Vives, Camilo, Nach, Residente, and Bad Bunny.

If the new album follows the line of “Agüita y Coco,” it will spread happiness in every line.

“It is going to put people in a very good mood. It's a bit more lively music, which was a great challenge for me,” said the singer.

According to García, many assume that because of her Puerto Rican origins, she should be making urban music, but she wants to "contribute positivism, with things that are worth talking about."

The artist has spent a number of days promoting her new album in Spain, where she said she completed 80% of her songs. She must finish the two last songs, and then focus on post-production. The album will feature an unnamed Dominican singer and a Spanish artist, who have not been revealed.

Now, after having completed a successful tour of the United States last Fall, she will return on March 25 and 26 to El Coliseo in Puerto Rico, one of her favorite venues and where she has performed throughout his career. Later, she will travel to Spain to give a series of concerts.

“I really want to go play there”, she said.
