Los Rivera Destino fills NPR's "Tiny Desk" with satire and rhythm
Los Rivera Destino became popular on the international scene in 2018, after their Bad Bunny's cover hit "Te Boté" in bolero
Wearing beige blazers, orange ties and sitting on stools, Los Rivera Destino signed yesterday a memorable performance in the series "Tiny Desk", of the North American public radio channel NPR. Playing there is a certificate of quality for current bands, and the Puerto Ricans didn’t miss out on this profitable international showcase.
They opened the performance with their latest single “Edgar Allan Poe”, a song with funky and soul beats and humorous lyrics. Then came “Castigo”, performed in a formidable Bossa Nova that invites you to dance on a magical night. Its lyrics and sounds reflect the vibrations of their island, whose daily stories are very prominent in the compositions.
Then was the turn of the funny “Mis amigos”, which pays tribute to colleagues who smoke weed without worries. They also premiered the unreleased “Pancakes”, which will be included on their next album. Was the most energetic interpretation, which served to conclude the live performance.
With their prodigious show, which will probably be seen by millions of people like previous “Tiny Desk”, they will make another step forward in their promising career. This happens in a month of April where they will finally release their debut album, named "Besitos & Besitas". "Nine years after we got together to make music, we are finally going to release our first album," the three singers of the group celebrated while toasting with a glass of whiskey.

“It is difficult for a band from Puerto Rico to make independent music, and we want to dedicate it to all the fans who have been with us since day one and to all the musicians who have been with us,” they said before performing the last song.
Los Rivera Destino became popular on the international scene in 2018, after ther Bad Bunny's cover hit "Te Boté" in bolero, in a video that went viral. Thanks to this, they later collaborated with the same artist in "Flor", which has 16 million views on YouTube.
Their identity, which fuses the romantic with the satirical, is giving them a lot of revenue. This format also allows them to deal with current political and social issues, but always with a subtle filter of their own, that makes everything more chilling.
In their long-awaited debut “Besitos & Besitas”, the band promises to launch a cocktail of classic and contemporary funk, soul, rock and Caribbean rhythms. The album features guest artists like Pedro Capó, and promises to break musical barriers. Among their varied influences, they combine the legacy of Puerto Rican classics like Calle 13 or Tego Calderón, current trap stars like Anuel AA or Bad Bunny, and frenetic rhythms that evoke the legendary Nirvana. Their music is generating high expectations.
