'Malibú': Cali & El Dandee combine for a new 'sadder' album
In the new album, the duo continue to deepen their personal mix of hip-hop, reggaeton and pop. But the main attraction is the features.
One of the most-celebrated duos in the Latin music scene is coming back. Cali & El Dandee, whose career started in 2008, will return to the big stage with the release of their new album Malibú. The singers, known for their particular mix of hip-hop, reggaeton and pop, released their completed new work at the end of February. Previously, they revealed several sneak peeks that built expectations among their fans.
On the new album, both continue to deepen their personal style, but the main attraction is the long list of high-profile features. Their career has always been marked by collaborations with other artists. Among their multiple features, the most known is "Despacito," by Luis Fonsi.
Fonsi himself appears on the list of features of Malibú, as well as Andry Kiddos, Aitana, Boza, Beret, May and Ricky, Guaynaa, Danna Paola, Charly Black, Keityn and Bullnene. According to a press release, the new album will be a continuation of their previous Colegio, their second album, released in 2020. It goes to emblematic places and corners where their favorite artists composed the songs that inspire them to this day.
The brothers Alejandro and Mauricio Rengifo (their original names), continue to show open-mindedness and generosity. They are committed to working as brothers and friends to enrich their musical legacy. They recently appeared with Fonsi in "Ley de gravedad," the lead single of what will be the Puerto Rican singer's tenth album. For his part, Fonsi features on the song "Yo no te olvido" on Malibú.

The music video for the title song of the album has already surpassed 1 million views on YouTube. In it, the brothers appear elegantly dressed.
“I remember the day I fell in love, it was on a beach in L.A. That you will not forget, that I will not forget,” they sing in unison.
Malibú was composed and produced by the two brothers alongside Andrés Torres in California. The feelings experienced by both in their daily lives also influence the theme of the album.
“It is a sadder album, we return to the roots with more intense stories and heartbreaking lyrics, although there are urban and reggaeton songs, but all marked by the sad approach,” they said.
In their previous albums, the duo succeeded with popular songs like "Gol," "Mueve tu cuerpo," "Tus ojos," "Lento," "La muda" and "Yo te esperaré." Among other names, they have collaborated with Álvaro Soler, Fonseca, Greeicy, David Bisbal and Juan Magan.
New collabs are also on the way. Spanish singer Lola Índigo recently hinted on her social media by posting a photo of her with the Colombians in the recording studio. Torres, the producer of Malibú, was among the people in the rehearsal room.
