From July 9 to Sept. 15, the exhibition "Iberoamericana de Toro," gathers 150 works by some 30 women artists from Spain and Mexico.

Zamora will open its churches and some historical spaces for this exhibition of national and Latin American contemporary artists throughout the summer. The cultural initiative comes from the hand of the Iberoamericana de Toro. The exhibition from curator Victor del Campo will allow the city to become a museum of contemporary art.

Tomás del Bien, mayor of the city and another curator of the exhibition, seeks to promote the historical heritage that Toro treasures, as well as value the contribution of women in contemporary visual arts.

In this first edition, the guest country will be Mexico, so the organization has been carried out together with the Embassy and the Cultural Institute of Mexico in Spain. Between video art, photography, painting and installations, some 20 Mexican and 12 Spanish artists are taking part in this initiative, as an attempt to vindicate the role of women in art.

Within the framework of the exhibition, a tribute to artist Delhy Tejero will be held as part of the Encounters that bear her name and where personalities from politics, culture, communication and the arts from Spain and Mexico, such as Cristina Almeida, Rosa Villacastín and Tomás Alía, among others, will talk about the important role of women in culture and the challenges they face in Ibero-America in the 21st century. These meetings will be held during the opening weekend.

During the closing of the event, the guest country for next year's second edition will be announced, and the Women of the Year in the Arts Award and the Most Outstanding Artist of the Festival Award, chosen by a vote of the attendees, will be presented.
