Other superstars who will be among the select group of hosts include former Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, British actress Micaela Cole and British singer Dua Lipa. 

"Cruz, who recently earned her fourth Oscar nomination for Parallel Mothers (2021), is perhaps Karl Lagerfeld's quintessential muse," wrote Vogue magazine about the actress' participation under the theme of the gala honoring the designer. 

This year, the gala will pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld with the exhibition "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," which will include more than 150 of his original looks, from the 1950s until his death in 2019.

"The exhibition pays tribute to the prolific designer, who headed major fashion houses such as Chanel, Fendi and Chloé," the magazine explained. 

Andrew Bolton, curator in charge of the Costume Institute, told Vogue that Lagerfeld drew everything" and "always said he knew how to draw before he could talk or walk. In many ways, it was his primary form of communication, whether it was by fax or iPhone," which is why the MET exhibition will focus on the evolution of Karl's two-dimensional drawings into three-dimensional garments. 

The dress code 

The event, which takes place on the first Monday of May each year, is known as "fashion's biggest night," because in addition to being a benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, it is also a showcase for the best looks of stars, young creatives and industry paragons. 

The 2023 dress code was called "In honor of Karl" and seeks that all guests are inspired by the designer's work over the years to materialize the different outfits they will wear.
