Strava? Nike +? Google Fit?  Probably, María Lorena Ramírez, a 22-year-old woman from Mexico's Tarahumara indigenous community doesn't use any kind of sophisticated mobile app when she goes running. She doesn't even need sneakers or any other professional gear.

On April 29, María Lorena Ramírez beat out 500 other runners in a 50-kilometer race wearing a pair of sandals made out of recycled tyre rubber, as reported in the BBC.

The Tarahumara are famous for being excellent runners. The BBC reveals some of their secrets, for example, "they consume large amounts of corn beer, which is high in carbohydrates, to stay hydrated."

The image of Ramírez receiving her medal on the podium has been shared nearly 100,000 times on Facebook since May 13, as reported in El País.
