A strange post-modern moment has arrived and small, decorative toys already function as a premonition of the "hype" and expectation of entertainment and sport. Fans of the Star Wars saga were able to guess from figurines the characters of the previous film before it was released. In the same manner, a whole series of new fighters can be glimpsed, who in all probability will make their debut at TripleMania XXVIII expected this December at the Mexico City Arena.

The teaser trailer released by AAA showed Aracno, Venenoide, Terror Púrpura and Leyenda Americana, but in the promotional Funko POP! figures there is Furioso, Estrella Cósmica and Animal Indestructible. The references to the classic heroes of the House of Ideas (Marvel Universe) are much more visible in the colors of the costumes than in the names themselves. But it is expected that there will also be a correlation with their characters in the ring.

This historic alliance between AAA Lucha Libre and Marvel is another step in the incredible expansion of the comic universe. Since the beginning of their film universe — with Iron Man in 2008 — Marvel has done nothing but show it has the best scriptwriters when it comes to crossovers, which is what the company calls the narrative events that affect various hero storylines at once. It has been the intersection of their products among themselves that has allowed them to build an internal narrative with which to reach the category of pop icons and a new typology of international cinema that appeals to audiences from very different cultural backgrounds.

For this reason, and given the previous merger with Disney, it is not surprising that in the midst of the boom in audiovisual content, someone thought of extending the aforementioned intersection and crossovers to Mexico. And the best product to make such a merger was evident by its similarity to Lucha Libre. Not only do the heroes of comic books and the ring fight with discipline and a sense of justice, but they also employ archetypal tricks through the use of masks.

It is also worth remembering the origins of some heroes and their relationship to the world of sport and entertainment, such as boxing. Daredevil's father was a boxer, which was an inspiration for Matt Murdock's character. The most famous was Spiderman, who initially designed his costume to win some money in the fights before Uncle Ben was killed. Many heroes had to fight in such settings as part of an arc, like the Thing or the famous fight between Superman and Muhammad Ali. There are also fighters that were promoted to superheroes like Blue Demon or The Saint.

Be that as it may, while we wait for the official confirmation for the long awaited TripleMania, we can only hope that this new alliance or crossover will be beneficial for the competition and the spectators without losing the original essence that makes this sport something Mexican.
