Maluma is the new Versace Man
Maluma is the face of Versace Men's new advertising campaign for the 2022 Spring-Summer collection.
Maluma has been named the Versace Man, the face of the company's latest ad campaign. This is his first campaign with the luxury fashion house.
The campaign consists of a set of photographs shot by the duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, where the Colombian is wearing a hot pink suit, a green dress vest and a varsity jacket topped with brand patches and 'Donatella' embroidery, welcoming the 2022 Spring-Summer collection.
In the photographs, Maluma is also accompanied by his dog, Buda.
"Maluma has been part of my Versace family for a long time and I am so excited to have him star in his first campaign with Versace," Donatella Versace said in a statement. "I loved the way he played with the camera and the fact that he felt as comfortable in front of the camera as he did in front of a stadium full of people singing his songs."
In a comment on Instagram, Donatella also congratulated the singer, calling him a "superstar" and "our king of Versace."
"The world is not ready to see these photos of you," she noted.
"For me, it's a dream come true to be the face of an iconic fashion house like Versace and to continue representing Colombia worldwide through music, fashion and much more," Maluma wrote in his own post. "Together, we have created memorable moments with personalized performances and red carpet looks, magazine covers and the incredible design for the Met Gala 2021. With this campaign, we are creating more memories as a fashion family together. One of my biggest highlights for 2022 will be my dog Buddha in his first campaign with me - Man's Best Friend Meets Fashion. This is to have many more memories with my Versace family."
The Versace fashion brand is known for choosing singers to appear on its billboards, as has already happened with the likes of Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa — who appeared in the Fall 2021 campaign. For this reason, the choice of Maluma was not unexpected, plus, he has worked with the brand in the past.
