This week, the Colombian goverment and the Ministry of Health announced potential incentives, including economic incentives or discounts in establishments, for Colombian citizens to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Minister Fernando Ruiz stated that one of the reasons would be that there are more than 4 million people who have not received their vaccinations.

The Ministry of Health made reference to other countries that have chosen to implement measures that function as "a call" to citizens to comply with vaccinations.

Making direct reference to France and Italy, countries that will require proof of vaccination or certificates of COVID-19 vaccinations to be able to enter certain private places or public spaces such as bars, discos, restaurants, etc.

"There are countries that have taken almost extraordinary measures such as preventing young people from entering bars in order to be vaccinated," said the Minister of Health.

"Very soon, and I believe that it is a matter of days, the Government will establish some measures that will make it very inconvenient not to be vaccinated," expressed the president of ACEMI, Gustavo Morales.

People who do not have their vaccination card against the coronavirus completed could encounter inconveniences when trying to participate in certain public spaces, to travel and even to be able to carry out their daily work. The figures are so worrying that the South American country has opened debate to make vaccination against COVID-19 compulsory.
