The bilingual Cinderella story in theaters
The new version of this classic will premiere on Jan. 22.
The performance of a new, bilingual, Cinderella story will take place on the Queens Theatre stage at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. with limited seating on Jan. 22.
"This captivating Cinderella for all ages addresses cultural heritage, family and the power of language," reads the synopsis posted by the theater on its website.
The adaptation is done in English and Spanish using puppetry and tells the story of Belinda, a 10-year-old girl who "confronts her stepmother and stepsisters as she learns to embrace her love of poetry and stand on her own two feet."

"We are thrilled to finally welcome Glass Half Full Theatre's Cinderella to the Queens Theatre. It's been a long road," Queens Theatre's director of community engagement Dominic D'Andrea told Impacto Latino.
The 45-minute play was scheduled to come to the theater in 2020, but was canceled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It is exciting to have the opportunity to bring this vibrant and magical family show to our community after a difficult few years. Our wish is for family audiences of all ages, languages, backgrounds and cultures to come together and experience a new version of a timeless tale — nothing is more 'Queens' than that!" said Dominic.
Those interested in attending the show can purchase tickets on the Queens Theater website. Prices start at $18 each or four tickets for $60 with the code 4FOR60. In addition, the 3:00 p.m. performance will feature American Sign Language interpretation.
